Privacy Policy

Last updated: 9 October 2026

This policy explains how Vanrau Investments (Pty) Ltd, trading as The App Room ("we", "us"), collects, uses and protects personal information when you use this website, theapproom.com. We process personal information in line with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).

Our AI App Builder at studio.theapproom.com, and the apps we build for clients, are covered by their own terms and agreements.

1. Who is responsible

The responsible party is Vanrau Investments (Pty) Ltd, trading as The App Room, a South African company. You can contact us about privacy at any time using our contact form.

2. What we collect

Information you give us. When you use our contact form, we collect your name and surname, your email address and/or contact number, and your message.

Technical information. Like most websites, our server records basic technical information when you visit or send a message, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request. We use this to keep the website secure and working, and to prevent spam.

Information stored in your browser. The website stores a small setting in your browser to remember whether you are signed in to our Studio, and may temporarily keep an app description you typed so it isn't lost. These are not used to track you. We do not currently use advertising or analytics cookies on this website.

3. Why we use it

We use your information to respond to your enquiry, to provide information about our services that you asked for, to keep the website secure, and to meet our legal obligations. We will not sell your personal information, and we will not add you to a marketing list without your consent.

4. Who we share it with

We only share personal information with service providers who help us run our business, such as our hosting and email providers, and only as far as they need it to provide their services. They are required to keep it confidential and secure. We may also disclose information where the law requires it.

Some of our service providers may store or process information outside South Africa. Where this happens, we take steps to make sure your information is protected to a standard similar to POPIA.

5. How long we keep it

We keep enquiries for as long as we need them to deal with your request and any follow-up, and for any period the law requires. After that, we delete them or make them anonymous.

6. How we protect it

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, including encrypted connections, access controls and secure hosting. No system is completely secure, but we work to prevent loss, misuse and unauthorised access.

7. Your rights

Under POPIA you have the right to ask whether we hold personal information about you, to request access to it, to ask us to correct or delete it, and to object to certain processing, including direct marketing. To make a request, contact us using the details above. We may need to confirm your identity before we act on a request.

If you are not happy with how we have handled your information, you can lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa at inforegulator.org.za.

8. Links to other sites

This website links to our Studio and to other websites. Those sites have their own privacy practices, and we are not responsible for them.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
